RMSP Photo Assignments are Making a Comeback!
Welcome back to RMSP’s blog photo assignments! After a somewhat lengthy hiatus, we’ve decided to rev up the creative juices of our amazing audience once again and engage you in some challenging and fun exercises that get you out there shooting with intention and then sharing it with the world!
We’ll be posting a new assignment every quarter, so you have these to look forward to throughout the year. This is how it works. A new unique topic for an assignment will be posted each quarter, roughly every four months. For each assignment given with a specific deadline, you’ll have a full month to create and submit your work that will then be published on a separate blog post shortly after the deadline. Each and every image you submit will be published inside a web-gallery in this post.
RMSP’s expert photography staff will then choose the top five images in relation to the assignment topic of all the submissions and publish a detailed critique for each of them in the same post. Pretty exciting stuff, right?! We can’t wait to see what you come up with all in the name of inspiration!
With no further ado, here’s your first assignment: In-Spiral.
It’s a play on words, but the challenge here is to find subjects that inspire you to capture spirals. They exist everywhere – in nature, weather, architecture, household items, pets, food, even in humans. Show us your best examples of twirling composition – macro, micro, telephoto, abstract or literal – anything at all that illustrates those spinning type of designs in your photographic environment. Or put your own spin on things and create a spiral of your making. We have a feeling you’ll dizzy us with your ideas!
All images should be:
• JPEG format
• 1500 pixels on the longest side; Any ppi will do.
• If possible, we’d love it if the images you submit have your name in the file name and include a watermark (that’s the “© John Doe” at the bottom of the pic). Please submit three to five images.
April 15, 2016
Email all images to Bob McGowan at firstname.lastname@example.org. Submitted images will appear in an online gallery on RMSP’s blog on or about April 22 2016. All images will be used in the online gallery for this specific assignment only and will be attributed to the photographer.
