About the Author

My love of photography crystallized when I explored the interior of a wild Namaqualand flower with a macro lens. I lost all sense of time and place and realized that looking through a lens was teaching me how to see. My travels further a field lead me to Missoula, Montana and the Rocky Mountain School of Photography where I turned my focus from flowers to people. Again photography opened the door to worlds and people that may have passed me by. I completed a Master’s degree in photojournalism at the University of Montana and had my first solo museum exhibition at the Missoula Art Museum in 2009. I believe that images can promote awareness, shift perspective and celebrate and preserve fleeting moments and personal histories. Above all, photography for me is a practical tool for finding beauty everywhere.
