National Geographic Worthy Adventurer, Jared Alden.

By their very nature, many of our students are the adventurous type. This is certainly true of Pennsylvania native and 2009 Career Training alum, Jared Alden. In fact, it’s challenging to know where in the world – literally – he will end up next. How about in Koh Yao Noi, Phuket, Thailand? How about traversing precariously yet confidently across a slackline strung from a stalactite 300 feet above the ocean??? And how about deservedly landing in National Geographic’s Extreme Photo of the Week?!! Well, here he is doing just that. Stunning!

“No fear!” is his motto, and it’s evident he and his globe-trotting crew know a thing a two about pushing limits. Jared is not only a subject, he’s an excellent photographer in his own right. Check out his work and more of his adventures by visiting his website, www.jaredphotography.com.  Congratulations to both Jared and photographer Scott Rogers for their major accomplishment!

Bob McGowan
A Southern California native, Bob came to Montana and to RMSP as a Career Training student in 2004 to attend both the Summer and Digital Intensive courses. His love of photography began in high school and he decided that a career change in pursuit of this passion was in store after spending the previous 20 years of employment in retail management. After completing the program, Missoula felt like home to him so he pursued a job on staff with the school, and as a result, currently holds the Programs Specialist position. His day-to-day activities at the school involve discussing photography with many like-minded individuals interested in learning more about their passion.

For those who would like to try out climbing themselves, the website http://www.koyaoislands.com gives really good information about housing and activities on the island. Every year, many climbers from all over the world come to climb here.
