It just keeps getting better for fine artist, Andrew Nixon. Having just concluded a triumphant exhibition opening of Going Coastal at the RMSP Gallery, Andrew returned home to Boston, MA to discover that he was chosen as one of the winners of the 4th annual Martha’s Vineyard Magazine Photo Contest! Now, that’s what we call being on a roll. His award-winning image of Oak Bluffs is below along with the laudatory comments of one of the judges. Not surprisingly, as a piece in his show, a very large print of this is hanging in our gallery at the moment and it’s absolutely radiant. Congratulations to Andrew, and we have a feeling it’s only the beginning for his fine art accolades!
An early start to the day rewarded Andrew with this moody shot in Oak Bluffs during his September vacation. The surface of the water especially appealed to contest judge Kate Feiffer. “This photograph is stunning because of it’s restraint and elegance,” she says. “A truly memorable photograph should draw you in and keep you rapt and that was the case with this photo. Gorgeous green-covered rocks seemingly afloat in a veneer of mist stretch out into a subdued sunrise. I didn’t want to stop looking.”
