December’s Assignment – Patterns

For many people in the United States, the primary goal this week is to make it through a few days of work so the Thanksgiving festivities can begin. We understand this is a lofty goal and shouldn’t be taken lightly. However, once you have successfully achieved it and are looking to redirect your attention from the football on your TV or gravy on your plate, we recommend you pick up your camera and dive into our December assignment.  You did great last month and we are hoping this next assignment, combined with the time of year are equally inspiring.

The assignment is “patterns.”  This can be interpreted in many ways…and we hope it is! As we were kickin’ ideas around the water cooler, we envisioned images of the patterns on grandma’s special holiday china, the patterns in your favorite Christmas sweater, your old man’s eating patterns over the next few weeks, or even a creative rendition of your holiday flight pattern. (Ooohh …. didn’t think of that one didya?!) As always, we welcome any and every genre of photography. Portraiture, studio, landscape, wedding, family snapshots, adventure….all of it. The primary goal here is for you to grab your camera and create something.  Here are the details:

Submitting images:

Please send all submissions to bobm@rmsp.com. All images should be in jpeg format, 72 ppi, with the longest side of your image measuring 600px. If possible, we’d love it if the images you submit have a watermark on them (that’s the “© John Doe” at the bottom of the pic). If not, no worries, we can add it ourselves.

Deadline:

December 28, 2011
Submitted images will appear in an online gallery on Paper Airplanes, RMSP’s blog on or about December 30, 2011. All images will be used in the online gallery for this specific assignment only and will be copyrighted to the photographer. An email confirmation will be sent once your submission is received.  If you do not receive the email confirmation, please contact bobm@rmsp.com.

About the Author

Andy Kemmis
Andy Kemmis is the Publications and Correspondence Specialist for RMSP. Decoded, this means that Andy is the guy who handles the school's graphic design needs, manages our ever-growing image library and is responsible for the wickedly clever words that fill our annual course catalog. He landed this job by touting his 3rd place finish in the Lewis and Clark Elementary Spelling Bee as a third grader. A great day for Andy consists of drinking coffee in the morning while listening to The Clash, going skateboarding or snowboarding and shooting photos of either, eating a turkey sandwich with avocado on it, and finding newer, more creative ways to not act his age...which aint what it used to be.
