“Ansel Adams: A Legacy” Week

If you’re in the Missoula area anytime during the next few months, you may want to check out an exciting new exhibit opening this week at the Missoula Art Museum.  “Ansel Adams: A Legacy” is a selection of over 130 prints from a private collection that will be publicly displayed for the first time ever.  Our very own Neil Chaput de Saintonge studied with the master and will be giving a lecture on his experience called, Ansel Adams: Making a Good Photograph, to take place at the museum on October 26, 2011 from 7 – 9 p.m. Mountain Time.

RMSP is a proud sponsor of the exhibit and of the supporting lectures series surrounding it. In celebration of this fabulous exhibit, we will be adding relevant posts about Mr. Ansel Adams to our blog all this week.

First up is a re-post of Page Orb Pedde’s insightful article entitled Ansel’s Yosemite based upon his love affair with Yosemite National Park. Be sure to visit the included links Page references that provide valuable insight into this amazing American photographic pioneer. Enjoy!

About the Author

Bob McGowan
A Southern California native, Bob came to Montana and to RMSP as a Career Training student in 2004 to attend both the Summer and Digital Intensive courses. His love of photography began in high school and he decided that a career change in pursuit of this passion was in store after spending the previous 20 years of employment in retail management. After completing the program, Missoula felt like home to him so he pursued a job on staff with the school, and as a result, currently holds the Programs Specialist position. His day-to-day activities at the school involve discussing photography with many like-minded individuals interested in learning more about their passion.
