Alumni Friday: Mike Tittel

Mike Tittel attended Summer Intensive in 2003 and is an amazing adventure/sports/fitness/lifestyle photographer based out of Salt Lake City, Utah. Whether shooting on location with lights, models and stylists or on the side of a mountain while ice climbing, Mike’s photographs show a clear love of adventure.  You don’t get the quality of images that he captures by sitting on the sideline waiting for the shot, the model to look just right, or the action to unfold in front of you. He clearly is a participant in each shot he takes. His camera angles and attention to detail show a genuine interest and intimate knowledge of each sport, lifestyle, athlete or adventure he is capturing. His client list includes companies such as Columbia Sportswear, Patagonia, Wenger, Utah Office of Tourism, Outside Magazine, and National Geographic Adventure to name only a few.

Mike’s images also illustrate an amazing knowledge and capability to work with light, both natural and artificial (strobes). He has a series of videos on his website that captures the behind the scenes look at some of his shoots. It’s a great glimpse at a working photographer’s process.
